Slipping into the darkened bar room, too early in the morning to politely receive it’s first visitors. Glasses clink as they’re washed and dried. A housekeeper’s vacuum drones from across the room. Wipes of cleaning solution replace the wet rings of evidence left behind by last night’s customers. The first overwhelming blasts of daylight baptise the room anew. Although the plush lounge is vacant of guests, the congregation of stately chairs silhouetted along the curved bar rail commands the room’s attention, as would their intended occupants from the past and present.

The famed and history-rich President’s Lounge, located in The Homestead Hotel in Hot Springs, VA, provided the setting for this dramatic marriage of composition and value.
